Event Information:

RSVP Here!

Project leaders from Conserving Carolina and PAL are looking forward to hosting the Saluda Grade Trail’s Community Information Session this week at Polk County High School. This gathering is a great opportunity to learn about the trail’s progress, listen to local leaders, and get involved with the Saluda Grade Trail!

Following our recent updates here and here, we want to share more about the event’s speaker agenda and presentation.

Listen to Expert Perspectives on the Trail

The speaker program will be moderated by Amy Allison, Director, NC Outdoor Economy Office North Carolina Department of Commerce. You can expect to hear from the project leaders as they share an update on planning and progress, and then hear from community members from the towns along the trail. Amy will lead a panel of local leaders and experts who will address the specific themes identified in our recent community engagement and surveys:

  • Timeline and Process
  • Local Government & Collaboration
  • Preserving History
  • Health and Wellness Benefits
  • Local-First Growth

Dedicated Learning Stations

The remainder of the evening is dedicated to community learning and sharing. Visit with organizations and leaders to ask about their work and connection to the future trail. This is a chance for partners to highlight their services and programs, and for you to build relationships across the corridor.

You will have the opportunity to speak directly with trail and community leaders and experts in the following fields:

  • Landowner Engagement: Staff from Conserving Carolina and PAL to answer specific property-related questions.
  • Trail Management: Learn about safety and maintenance from representatives associated with the Ecusta Trail and the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
  • History and Cultural Resources: Featuring the Saluda Depot Museum, the Landrum Rail & History Museum, and Historic Saluda.
  • Local Business and Downtown Connections: Engaging with small business representatives and the Friends of McCreery Park.
  • Recreation, Health & Conservation: Insights from local biking groups, health organizations, Palmetto Conservation Foundation, and the Saluda Community Land Trust.
  • Community-Based and Education Organizations: Sharing information on youth programming and community-based organizations.
